Do I have to enroll in Medicare when I turn 65?
Not always. Whether you need Part B at 65 depends on circumstances such as current employment coverage and Social Security status. Confirm the rules for your specific coverage before delaying any part of Medicare.
Can I keep my doctors?
It depends on the coverage structure and the specific plan. Check the exact doctor, practice location, hospital, and plan before enrolling. A provider directory is a useful first step, but confirm with the office too.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?
Medicare Advantage is a private plan that provides your Part A and Part B benefits with its own network, costs, and rules. Medigap supplements Original Medicare and usually requires separate Part D coverage. They are different structures and generally are not used together.
Can I change coverage every year?
Some Medicare changes are available during specific enrollment periods, but rules depend on the type of coverage and your circumstances. Changing from Medicare Advantage to Original Medicare does not automatically guarantee a right to buy a Medigap policy without underwriting.
